Our approach

Built in the field, not in a classroom.

MSC Workforce develops people the way good crews have always learned: on real work, alongside someone who's done it, with honest feedback. We just make it consistent, and we make the progress visible.

Who leads the work

Troy Clark

President, MSC Workforce Development

As President, Troy leads MSC Workforce Development's work with contractors, from the first conversation about a workforce gap to the field coaching that follows. He works alongside the MSC Safety Solutions team to keep every pathway grounded in how construction work really gets done.

Troy's approach comes from time on job sites, not behind a desk. He's seen what happens when good craft workers get promoted without support, and when safety lives in a binder instead of in the way people work.

That's why MSC Workforce stays close to the field. Learning is built around real situations, mentors coach on active sites, and supervisors stay in charge of their people.

What we believe

A few things we won't compromise on.

These shape every pathway we build and every conversation we have with a contractor.

  1. 01

    The field is the classroom.

People learn safety judgment by doing real work with someone experienced beside them. Learning supports that. It doesn't replace it.

  2. 02

    Supervisors own the work.

We support your supervisors. We don't work around them. They stay accountable for their crews, and we help them lead better.

  3. 03

    Show it, don't claim it.

Progress should be observed and recorded, not assumed. If someone's ready, the evidence should say so.

  4. 04

Start small and build what works.

You don't need a full program on day one. One role, one project, done well, is a better start than a big plan that never gets used.

  5. 05

    Talk straight.

We'll tell you what we can do, what we can't, and what's still being built. No inflated promises.

Who does what

We develop and document. You decide.

The line between our role and yours is clear, and it stays that way.
